The hard moments
For the nights that are harder than a bad game, and the good nights that are easy to get wrong. Pick the one you’re facing. Each one walks you through what’s going on, what to say, and what’s your kid’s to decide.

Good nights
Why these nights are hard for parents
Most of us handle the ride home the way it was handled for us, or the exact opposite, which may not be the best answer either. Neither one starts with your kid: their experience, and who they are.
On a hard night, most parents feel the same few urges. Each page shows what you’ll likely want to say in that moment.
- “You’re not quitting.”Keep them going
- “You got robbed.”Make them feel better
- “It’s just a game. Let it go.”Calm them down
- “That coach is a joke.”Vent your own feelings
- “We’ll get you lessons.”Fix it
Most of these come from love. Some also come from your own history. A parent who quit and regrets it may push hard to keep their kid going. A parent who was a star may not recognize the struggle at all. Your history gives you empathy. It can also have you reacting to what happened to you back then, instead of to your kid now. That’s why each page asks you about your own past, so you can set your story aside and start with your kid’s.
The after-game card
For an ordinary game night, the card has the few questions you need for the car, on one screen.
